The Good Ship
In March 2020 we entered into a state of Lockdown. The multifarious components of this sculpture are a mechanical representation of us as individuals and organisations and the connection we have with one another as part of society. In this work, each component is unable to advance independently. Bound together, increasingly aware of the need for financial lubrication, and trapped aboard our lifeboat we move through time.
The Good Ship shepherds us towards vaccination and the promise of a more gregarious future.
I am an artist of Anglo/Polish descent living in Alton. The primary focus of my work is the making of Sculpture but I also create Video and make Hybrid Digital Print editions.
My primary inspiration lies in the connections and relationships between human processes on a psychological level, and interpersonal connections on a social level.
My work serves to physically visualize the connections within the individual and between people. Forms and designs become representations of systems we are a part of. Appearing as networks that are constantly being supplied with new content and information from perception, experience, and reflection.
I conduct an artistic investigation of circumstances via a meticulous examination of materials and their technical possibilities. More recently I have been using PVC, Perspex, and HDPE. Here I can control and finish the material through targeted cuts and modelling. This artistic practice results in artworks characterized by patience, precision and attention to detail.
