Based on the Surrey border on the edge of Farnham, Erika enjoys walking and observing and drawing inspiration from the English countryside: the landscape, the animals, plants and the elements.
Having enjoyed creative activities from a young age, spending hours playing with different techniques and being encouraged by inspirational teachers who took an interest, she inevitably followed her passion with a teaching degree at Exeter University specialising in Art. She then went on to share her love of art for many years working as a teacher.
Starting with a colour scheme and inspiration from fabric designers from the arts & crafts period her paintings are largely acrylic based using acrylic spray paints to sketch out her compositions and putting initial colour ideas down, then she over paints with details & texture.
Each artwork is planned out with a ideas board but once started takes on a journey of exploration and problem solving which may lead her in a completely different direction…
