Rukeyah’s passion for art, in particular working in oil, has developed over the past seven years after joining a small art class in Fleet.
Prior to that time Rukeyah had no experience of painting in any medium. For the past 6 years or so, Rukeyah has been a member of a large vibrant art group based in Odiham. Under the guidance of their teacher, who is a specialist illustrator and artist, the group hold two sessions a week and usually put on one or two successful exhibitions a year in the Old Barn in Odiham.
In addition to attending this group, Rukeyah has home tuition on a regular basis from local artist and art teacher Andrew Newton.
Rukeyah has exhibited at AppArt, an art and sculpture exhibition that has been held annually since 2012 at Priory Field School near Godalming.
Rukeyah was a finalist in The Holly Bush Emerging Woman Painter Prize 2020 competition.
